Privacy Policy

Who we are

Somleng Studio is a music project operated by KhmerLife Records ("we", "us", "our"). We publish original AI-generated Khmer music at somlengstudio.com, on YouTube, and on streaming platforms. We also make Somleng Studio for Mac (the "App"), a companion app that helps us manage our own releases on YouTube.

This policy covers two things: the website at somlengstudio.com and the App.

The website

What we collect

We collect as little as possible. Visitors do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the site.

• Server logs. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used to build profiles of visitors.
• Analytics. We use Netlify Analytics, which is based on server logs rather than scripts or cookies in your browser. It tells us which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from. It does not track you across other websites.
• Contact. If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.

YouTube embeds

Song pages embed videos from YouTube using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you interact with an embedded player, YouTube (Google) may collect data as described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Links to other services

We link to Spotify, Apple Music, DistroKid HyperFollow pages, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Those services have their own privacy policies and we do not control what they collect.

Cookies

The website itself does not set cookies for visitors. The admin area, used only by our team, uses a session cookie to keep team members signed in.

The App (Somleng Studio for Mac)

The App is a tool we built for managing the Somleng Studio YouTube channel. It is used by our team and by anyone we choose to share it with.

Google and YouTube data the App accesses

When you sign in to the App with Google, it asks for the following OAuth scopes:

The App uses that access only to:

The App does not access any Google data beyond the scopes listed above, and it does not access other users' data.

Where your data is stored

• OAuth tokens are stored locally on your Mac in the macOS Keychain. They are never sent to our servers.
• Video files and metadata you upload go directly from your Mac to YouTube's API. We do not keep a copy.
• The App has no backend of its own. We cannot see your channel, your videos, or your tokens.

How we use Google user data

• We do not sell Google user data.
• We do not share it with third parties, except with Google itself as needed to perform the actions you request.
• We do not use it for advertising.
• We do not use it to train, develop, or improve machine-learning or AI models, whether general or personalized.
• Humans do not read your data, except with your explicit permission, where necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or as part of internal operations where the data has been aggregated and anonymized.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Somleng Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

YouTube API Services

The App uses YouTube API Services. By using the App you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Revoking access

You can revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. You can also sign out inside the App, which deletes the stored tokens from your Keychain. Revoking access does not delete anything from your YouTube channel.

Data retention and deletion

• Website: server logs are kept by Netlify for 30 days [VERIFY: confirm the Netlify log retention for your plan]. Emails you send us are kept until the conversation is resolved, then deleted within 12 months.
• App: all data stays on your Mac. Deleting the App, or signing out, removes the stored tokens. Data the App stored on YouTube (your videos and their metadata) is controlled through your YouTube account.
• To request deletion of anything we hold, email hello@somlengstudio.com. We respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

The website and the App are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes to how the App uses Google data will also be reflected on the Google OAuth consent screen.
