60s Cambodian Rock Tribute
The story
A shoebox in the garage. Dusty cassettes with ម៉ាក់'s handwriting on the labels. One goes into ប៉ា's old Camry, the volume goes up, and suddenly the freeway turns into 1967 Phnom Penh.
This is a love letter to the Golden Era of Cambodian rock and roll: surf guitars, combo organs, beehive hair, and a whole city twisting under neon by the river. So much of that music was lost, along with so many of the people who made it. But the tapes survived, and we're still singing.
Play this one for your ម៉ាក់. Then watch her pretend she doesn't know every word.
